Shadows of Cthulhu

Right now, I'm happily devouring Reality Deviant Production's True20 product, Shadows of Cthulhu. Since I received this Friday, I've missed out on a good bit of sleep reading through it, and I'm happy to report it looks like Reality Deviant has done a really nice job porting over the staples over H.P. Lovecraft-inspired gaming to True20. Its got me seriously jonesing to run a Roaring '20s one-shot full of Things Man Was Not Meant To Know (and to introduce an entirely new generation of roleplayers to lines beginning with "But Professor!").

I should be doing a little tie-in project on this with Atomic Array a bit later on in the week, so stay tuned for that.

I just bought it recently, and haven't gotten a chance to delve into it, but my first thought was that I'm going to have to go back and re-read True20 first to really get it (it's been years since I read the core book and never played it.) But I have high hopes that it'll fix the problems I had with d20 Cthulhu but still be close enough for my D&D buddies to enjoy.

I'm also wondering if I can snag some ideas from the Trail of Cthulhu book.

I think so. It seems open enough to do so, and Trail of Cthulhu is a great product.

I've been meaning to pick up Trail, and now it looks like there's YET ANOTHER game I need to pick up.

Sigh.

It never ends...
