Rifts and D6

Would there be a better system for Rifts than D6? Am I the only one who thinks that’d be a pretty good pairing? Rifts is one setting where rolling 20d6 for an attack would seem to be a good fit. I think D6 is cinematic and straightforward enough to handle some of the larger-than-life, kitchen-sink elements that would come up.

Hey, D6 is Open. Shame Rifts isn’t, or that would be a great project.

D6 is not open, yet.

It's going to be, but it's not.

Every once in a while I work on converting rifts to Exalted Storyteller. It was always just a personal project kuz neither system is open, but Exalted basically has all the same thing rifts does so it's not that hard.

I would actually go with Savage Worlds as my first RIFTS conversion idea, but yes, d6 would take a close second.

Instead of using MDC, you could rate mega-damage from 1 to 5, and just drop out all damage dice ≤ the rating before you add them up.

Hmmm.

@Miguel: Actually, it just went open. See here:

It would be great to get the D6 SRD up on the Grand OGL Wiki as well. Must go investigate. Thanks for the link. I've posted "the sword" in the DM Sketchpad today Zachary

Actually, you wouldn't need Mega Damage per se, since d6 has a wonderful scaling system built in by default. Just treat MD weapons as larger than weapons of that size would normally be. (Yeah, I've considered this before, too. But it would be a lot of work.)

I moved around the Mega Damage thing by giving (what was) MD armour a damage resistance up to a point, and gave soft squishy mortals a damage threshold where limbs and other important bits started being severed when powerful weapons were used.

@Mark: You continue to impress. Thanks, pal!

I actually think d20 works best since it already uses it for many rolls and the class system ports well to d20. I've been using d20 for it for a few years.

Yes, D6 would be a good pretender. I'd also though about Hero System, but the huge work it'd imply always stops me.
