I gotta say, Stuart from
Robertson Games has left me with mixed emotions this morning. Mixed because his
Ancient Academy is a super-cool 1-page dungeon design, but it also illustrates how crappy the graphic layout was on my entry for the 1-page dungeon design contest. Such is life. So I'll alternately curse and congratulate him on a job well done, and urge you to
download this cool freebie. Well done, sir.

Ha! Thanks very much.
My day job is in graphic/web design, so I know Illustrator and PhotoShop very well (I even teach it!) This was the first time I'd tried doing a digital RPG map, and I figured out a lot of techniques that'll make the next map go even faster. :)
You know, I had the exact (!) same reaction when I saw it. I mean, I think I came up with a clever gimmick, but ultimately, the design was very basic.
I think that's part of the reason I enjoy this contest so much. Even if I don't win anything, I really anticipate learning a few tricks from so many of the talented folks we have out there.
That is awesome Stuart! Man, I can never say in 1 word what I could in 10. I had the same discussion with Phil Reed back in the day when he was advising folks to do short PDFs. I can't argue with it, I just cant do it.
Good Job!
Ditto on feeling inadequate compared to the graphic abilities of others. Nearly all of the entries I've seen so far are far prettier than what I came up with.
Granted, I like my content. But I know presentation counts.
@Anon: I like my substance, too. But I know I got beat down on presentation! :)
