And Now, A Word From Labyrinth

This riddle (or a variation thereupon) has come up, more often than not, in most fantasy campaigns I have run.




However, no one has ever invoked the below scene in-game. For which I am immensely grateful:

One thing still bothers me- one of the guards TOLD her that one always spoke the truth and one always lied.
But...That might have been a lie.

Hahaha, nice.

@Anonymous: I wonder if that would've been enough to solve the puzzle on its own. If the guard speaking always told the truth, then he'd be correct about the rules of the game. And so he could be consulted. If he was lying, then the other guy would also be lying...so...huh. That just makes a big mess of it.
