*puts on geek hat*Is that really an Apple IIe in that picture? Sure looks like an IBM PC to me...*take off geek hat*;-)And yes, we had a similar setup in the spare bedroom of my parent's house in the mid-80's...:-)
Agreed! I had a II+ and it had an integrated keyboard with the system unit.Besides, if RPGers were more like Pro Sports stars, wouldn't that make us even more useless?
Hilarious! That would be sweet if there was a template somewhere so we could make one up for ourselves and our friends.
That is pretty cool.Yes, a template would be awesome, I bet I have some uber-geeky pics of my self from the 80's WITH a Members Only jacket. That screen is 'shopped on. It looks like someone's blog.
I have his rookie card.
James Curbmiller is a were-owl.
Mr. Curbmiller certainly resembles one, doesn’t he?Sadly, in ’86, Curbmiller became a Free Agent after the Traveller group folded. He kicked around on the amateur circuit for a while, before giving it up. Today, he resides in Kenosha, WI, where he writes Star Trek—Babylon 5 crossover fanfic.
I put his glasses and the butt of that very cigarette he's smoking in the shot on EBAY a few years ago... no takers.
Hilarious post. Well done. And on that note, Magic the Gathering DOES have cards like this for their 'pro' players. Someone from my gaming group came across one for a dude named Alan Comer and ever since then he's been our mascot.
That is a gimmick screaming for a web-based template. It could be the gamer meme of '10
@mortellan: Man, I need to see one of those.James: If anyone has the talent, they’re welcome to do so!
Ya know all joking aside why don't we have a pro circuit of gamers? Has anyone seen "Gold" the web series about Pro RPG Gamers? http://www.readcsp.com/csp/gold/I mean I would love to get paid for playing an RPG. How would you set up a Pro Gamer Circuit? All I can say is LET'S DO IT!LOL!
Cute comparison, but don't forget that player cards on sports only get made for the pros and up-and-coming semi-pros. Amateurs (which is all of us) wouldn't have cards unless we were performing well in some competitive RPG league. THOSE guys get their own cards! ;-)Obviously, this means we need to create a competitive RPG league and post our stats to until some of us become acknowledged as pro - then we get gamer cards! LOL! :-D
Only 114 sessions from 81 to 85? Seems like he was hardly trying at all.
