Shadow, Sword, & Spell Now Available At RPGNow

Because I've had so many inquiries about it, I wanted to mention Shadow, Sword & Spell is now available at RPGNow for $6.99. Considering you can get the print and pdf for only $12.99 from Rogue Games, I expect more gamers will do that instead. But for those of you who are going pdf-only these days, this should be a pretty good buy for you.

I also hear e-book versions for SS&S should be out shortly, so Kindle and other e-reader users, it should be available to you for you devices soon.

Michael Wolf speaks highly of this Zach. What do you think of it? I'm just debating if my collection requires another new Fantasy RPG.

Well, I love it. Honestly, I totally understand about being deluged with fantasy RPGs. I can tell you some of the reasons I like it:

-Easy to learn: The system is simple enough to learn, as all the rookies who played in my game at Gen Con will attest. It isn't all hand-wavey, but you can explain the system in about 30 seconds flat.

-Geared towards what I want to run: I'm a little tired of 14 kinds of elf. I want to run something that can do the weird mix of the Odyssey, Earthsea, and the works of REH and de Camp that's in my head.

-Still allows for customization: The system is easy, but there's a lot of optional rules to tweak the game how I want. Also, backgrounds and hooks help flesh out a character, and hooks also can help push things in actual play.

-Price point: $12.99 for print and pdf. That's an awesome deal.

I hope that helps. I don't want to do a blanket recommendation a game, b/c that's just being a shill. But within my own experience, it was pretty much what I was looking for.

I'll probably give it a look. Even though I can never get my guys to go beyond 3.g D&D I like seeing new systems and possibly being able to play them in the future.

Thanks for the Run down Zach. Now I've got to decide to just PDF it or both.

No problem! I just did a full review today, if that helps decide one way or the other.
