Mini Six: Post Apocalypse

All things lead back to our first loves in gaming, I think.  Why else would I keep envisioning Rifts-With-The-Serial-Numbers-Filed-Off for Mini Six?

-Could it be because I have fond memories of d6, where one of my Jedi once became powerful enough to slice a small asteroid in half?

-Could it be because I see the scaling rules working really well at handling the wide range of power levels inherent in the ideas behind Rifts?

-Could it be because I want to tempt Jason Richards to write his best vision of Rifts/Chaos Earth for said system?

-Could it be because I wish to coax the elusive Doc Rotwang out of his virtual hermitage with so grandiose a vision?

-Could it be because I am really digging this generic system?

Random thoughts on a random Saturday, after a Pathfinder session last night which saw our monk die in a freak prizefighting accident, which split the group, which...well, let's say my (Archivist) Bard's Bluff roll may have had something to do with the monk fighting in the first place. Ooops.

The quest for the best system to handle Rifts is one of my great gaming goose chases.

I've never played the d6 system, but if it worked for Rifts I'd be there in a heartbeat.

The fact that conversions are "underground" just contributes to their almost occult appeal. It's like something from an Umberto Eco novel.

I've maintained for a long time that within hours of Palladium going out of business or KS kicking the bucket the Internet will be flooded with fan conversions.

I imagine you're right, sirlarkins. The conversion policy is unfortunate; I'd love to see just a brief document from Palladium with some of the flavor text of Rifts. Sell that to folks as a generic campaign setting for cheap, and see a rise in interest in your products.

Why, oh why, didn't I ever think of this?!
My Sunday gaming group has tossed around the idea of using a different system to run RIFTS, and I've perused a few blogs that have tried to undertake the task... but could it really be as simple as using the d6 system?

@Ryan: Maybe. Just maybe.

This could net us all the Nobel Prize for Physics and Game Design, if we can but pull it off...

I'm with Sir Larkins on the quest for the best system to handle Rifts. Love the setting, but the system just gives me fits, I've been following Mini-Six for a bit and like it, for some reason using it for Rifts NEVER crossed my mind! *doh*
