Summon Awesome Modern City Map (Please?)

I'm looking for a modern city map, suitable for a superhero campaign arc I'm toying around with. I'd like something I can freely reproduce for the players; my idea is a city of 1-3 million people, near some water, nicely generic; a mix of Indy, Chicago, and Gotham, as it were. I'd like it to reproduce well in black and white or grayscale.  I want it to give a "big city" feel, but still manageable from a GMing perspective.

I've not been able to find anything that works on Google Maps yet, and the City Map Generator hasn't quite given me what I'm looking for yet. I was pointed to this Vanguard City map over at Midnight's Lair, which is close, but I want something that looks a bit more busy and populous.

So, please, keep your eyes open, and drop me a comment or email if you find something you think might work.  Thanks!

Oh, here's a better one...the purple dots are parking garages and lots, but otherwise it's a pretty nice map of downtown...

I highly recommend this thread and its posts from skyscapercity.com featuring maps and illustrations of imaginary modern cities:

I've used a number of these for games, sometimes modifiying them myself in photoshop.

Good hunting!

You might take a look at the map storehouse at profantasy.com, makers of Campaign Cartographer.

Also, I've always liked the "Lakefront City" setting from Gangbusters; the box set has a poster map and the module "Trouble Brewing" details the various locations.

How about the map of Paragon City from City of Heroes?

You could try a map of Buffalo NY, it's a great city for supers. They could knock over half the city and no one would notice! :)

Or they would pay them for demolition there are over a thousand structures that are waiting for demolition in the city. They're backed up three years!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! Some great stuff in there!

Play Sim City for a while and then take screenshots in different modes.

SG: You know, I thought of that, but I'm not sure how it would turn out!

Green Ronin's Freedom City is the most detailed modern fantasy city I've ever encountered. Lots more images available in a quick image search, and they've got a fair number of "Atlas" supplements that can help flesh out certain areas. (If you're looking for ideas)

I'll also second using a real city - either your own or another. I typically use wikipedia's Cities or Metro Area lists and pick a city about the right size, and customize/adapt from there. There's also plenty of cities outside the US to choose from.

ah, my fellow midwesterner. I just got done with a superhero campaign and used lots of maps. Went with Century Station from Palladium. Had an overhead projector and transparencies made up. Anyway, here is a link to some city maps I found on the internet. There are road maps, railway maps, sectional maps, and all of the same city:
